After th e preceeding games outside country the Philippines Azkals is now go to the home country for a charity fund for their beneficiaries.   The game, which features Galaxy superstar tandem David Beckham and Landon Donovan, will be broadcast live by Studio 23 and on BALLS HD  starting 6:30 p.m. on Saturday


Picking up from where it left off, Philippine football scaled new heights in 2011 and lured a global icon as it firmly established a following in this basketball-crazy nation. The Azkals fashioned out two historic achievements—qualification to the AFC Challenge Cup main tournament and the second round of World Cup Qualifying—in a stirring follow-up to their amazing semifinal run in the Suzuki Cup in December 2010. And with former England captain David Beckham and the Los Angeles Galaxy capping the year with a clinical display at the Rizal Memorial Stadium, there seems to be no stopping the rise of the “Beautiful Game” in the country. The Philippines’ international campaign did suffer hiccups, particularly the abysmal showing of the Under-23 side in the 26th Southeast Asian Games that served as an eye-opener for officials to put up a long-term grassroots program to sustain the success.

The Corona's Impeachment Trial: CJ's Wife on Hot seat

MANILA, Philippines—The wife of Chief Justice Renato Corona will be presented as witness by the defense team in the ongoing impeachment trial in the Senate, Corona’s lead counsel said on Wednesday.

“Mrs. (Cristina) Corona definitely will be presented here,” said former Supreme Court Associate Justice Serafin Cuevas, head of the defense team.

“We will present her as a witness for Chief Justice Corona,” Cuevas added.

Impeached Chief Justice Renato Corona on Tuesday broke his silence and dismissed as “lies” the allegations leveled against him and his wife Cristina by the latter’s cousin, Ana Basa.

“Don’t believe her lies,” Corona said in a text message to reporters, referring to Basa’s claims in an exclusive interview with the Philippine Daily Inquirer.

“She and her branch of the family have been uttering and repeating those lies for the past 30 years,” he said.

Corona said Basa and her family were “not even stockholders of the corporation.”

In an interview on Monday, Corona’s lawyer, Ramon Esguerra, said Cristina was “virtually the owner” of Basa-Guidote Enterprises Inc. when the family-owned firm sold a piece of property to the city government of Manila in March 2001.

The proceeds of that sale were reportedly deposited in Corona’s name at the Katipunan, Quezon City, branch of Philippine Savings Bank.

Chief Justice Renato Corona on Monday said his detractors will have to kill him first if they want him removed as the country's top magistrate.

"Kamatayan lang. Kung gusto nilang tanggalin ako dito, patayin nila ako," Corona said when asked what it would take for him to resign his post.

He added that his own life is a small sacrifice to defend the institution that he serves.

Corona will go on trial at the Senate today after being accused of betrayal of public trust, culpable violation ofthe Constitution and graft and corruption.He is the first chief justice of the country to be impeached.

Former justice undersecretary Ramon Esguerra, a member of Corona's defenseteam, said the embattled chief justice is leaving the trial up to God but is determined to clear his name.
